The Office of the General Counsel provides legal advice and compliance support relating to University activities abroad. Key international topics include the establishment of academic collaborations with foreign institutions, international employment and tax issues, and legal issues arising out of Princeton’s interest in the Mpala Research Center, Princeton Athens Center, and Princeton Beijing Consulting Ltd. Attorneys also provide guidance regarding laws applicable to foreign transactions, including export control laws under the Export Administration Regulations and the International Traffic and Arms Regulations, as well as the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. In addition, attorneys advise the University on immigration-related issues and provide legal guidance to the Davis International Center, which serves and supports the University’s international community.
